Office of the Registrar
Dear Georgia State students,
The registration process for the spring term will begin Monday, Nov. 2—one week later than originally announced. If you have priority registration, it will be preserved under the new schedule. The new dates are visible on your PAWS portal.
We appreciate the thousands of you who have provided feedback to us via the chatbot about your preferences for the way you would like to see courses delivered this spring. While it is impossible to accommodate all student wishes under our challenging circumstances, the added time will allow faculty and departments to adjust course learning models in response to your feedback and to deliver the widest and safest number of options to all students. We hope to have minimal changes to course delivery methods once registration opens on Nov. 2.
For spring, the learning models are still Face to Face, Blended and Online. However, there will be more structured requirements with respect to the in-person, on-campus requirements in the blended courses. Faculty teaching blended courses will have regular in-person, on-campus meetings and will expect attendance in those sessions unless you are sick or have another legitimate excuse. Faculty will not permanently excuse a student from the in-person attendance requirement of a blended course unless the student has secured this accommodation formally through Georgia State’s Office of Access and Accommodation. Social distancing and safety measures will be preserved. If you have approved accommodations, we ask that you register early in the registration cycle when possible and choose courses that align with the needs of your accommodation. If you find yourself without viable options for your coursework, work with your advisor and the department offering the course for appropriate special requests.
The change in registration does not change the overall spring academic calendar start or end dates, only the date on which you will register for your classes. Spring classes will begin on Jan. 11, 2021.
Faculty and staff are rooting for your success in each course and are here to assist with your academic and administrative needs. If you have questions or concerns about registration you can review registration specific concerns at registrar.gsu.edu or go to Panther Answer where we are happy to assist you in a variety of ways based on your service preference.
Sincerely,
Tarrah Mirus
