To Georgia State students:
After an extremely challenging year, we are excited to begin welcoming you back to our campuses under far more normal circumstances.
We know the pandemic has been especially difficult for our students and we are grateful for your flexibility, sacrifices and hard work as we navigated through this past year together.
As you have likely heard, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the University System of Georgia have recently issued new guidelines that help inform our path forward.
Fully vaccinated students can resume campus classes and other activities without physically distancing or wearing a mask. Unvaccinated students are strongly encouraged to continue socially distancing from others when possible and wearing a face covering while inside campus facilities. For summer semester, we will continue to socially distance inside classrooms to honor the schedules and classroom assignments that have already been set.
Alternate Educational Arrangements granted to students for fall 2020 or spring 2021 due to COVID-19 will end no later than June 30. Students are expected to return to their traditional educational arrangement beginning fall semester.
Campus events, activities and facilities, including university housing, will be at full capacity in the fall.
Many of you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and the number increases each day. I urge everyone to get the vaccine to protect yourself and others.
We are also continuing to offer COVID testing on our campuses and encourage you to participate.
We know this has been a challenging time for many of you. We are continuing to provide emergency financial hardship assistance for those students who qualify.
We look forward with great anticipation to the fall when the excitement, energy and vibrancy return to our Georgia State campuses. We know you’ll have many questions as we return to normal operations on our campuses and we remain committed to keeping you well informed. Please check out ahead.gsu.edu for more information.
Best wishes for a safe and healthy summer. We look forward to seeing everyone on our campuses this fall.
